Alexander Zakharchenko: "Emergence of a "third force" in Donbass will only lead to the conflict’s escalation"

The head of the Donetsk People's Republic commented on Kiev's desire to place the forces of the international peacekeeping contingent in Donbass under the aegis of the United Nations.

"Our position has remained unchanged. The presence of any armed "third force" in the zone of our conflict with Kiev will not help to stop, but escalate tension. And it doesn't matter whether it's a police mission or UN peacekeepers.

I want to remind you that Kiev has long been trying to draw into our conflict a "third force," that is, foreigners. Western foreigners are desirable for Kiev. Why does Poroshenko need it? From the political point of view, talks about "peacekeepers" are call upon to substitute real negotiations in Minsk, since Poroshenko doesn't want to and cannot negotiate with us. The perfect target for such a provocation is foreigners, representatives of Western countries. Including "peacekeepers". Unfortunately, the terrorist attack against the OSCE mission staff is in the same row. That is, first, Ukrainian saboteurs kill citizens of Western countries, and then Poroshenko calls the US Secretary of State.

Therefore, once again, our position is unchanged. We are radically against peacekeeping or international police missions in our conflict. We are ready to negotiate with Kiev, however, not about the "third force", but about Kiev's implementation of Minsk agreements (Package of Measures), consistently, paragraph by paragraph," said the Head of the Donetsk People's Republic.
