Alexander Zakharchenko: "Donbass is our land, we will not give it to the enemy"
On Thursday, September 7, at the memorial complex Saur-Mogila, in the framework of the solemn events dedicated to the celebration of the 74th anniversary of the liberation of Donbass from the Nazi invaders, a rally was held, in which the Head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, took part. The Head of State stressed the special significance of this holiday for all residents of Donbass:
"Saur-Mogila is a sacred place for each of us. It was here that in the far 1943 the fate of Donbass was being decided, and our grandfathers and great-grandfathers were courageously fighting for freedom, the right to live true to their conscience. It's been 74 years since our grandfathers and great-grandfathers liberated Donbass. In 2014, we started to fight. We promise - we will not lose honour, Victory will be ours. This is our land, we will not give it to the enemy. Today we bow our heads low before the memory of the deceased defenders and liberators of our native land," the Head of the Republic said.
Heads of ministries and departments, heads of city administrations, public representatives, residents and guests of the Republic gathered at the place significant for all residents of Donbass. The participants of the meeting honoured the memory of the perished liberators with a minute of silence and a ceremony of laying flowers to the monuments and graves of Soviet soldiers, as well as defenders of Donbass, who died in the battle for the legendary height in 2014. There was a rifle salute in honour of the heroes-liberators.
It should be noted that the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Saur-Mogila memorial complex is also marked this year.
