Donetsk and Simferopol sign Twinning agreement
On the Day of the City of Donetsk, August 26, the capitals of the Donetsk People's Republic and the Republic of Crimea signed an Agreement on Comprehensive Cooperation.
The official ceremony was attended by the Head of the Donetsk People's Republic Alexander Zakharchenko, Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, coordinator of the Russia-Donbass Integration Committee, Andrei Kozenko, and heads of ministries and departments of the Republics.
The document was signed by the acting head of the Donetsk administration Alexei Kulemzin and Simferopol Mayor Gennady Bakharev.
As the Head of the DPR noted, the cooperation agreement opened prospects for mutually beneficial partnership between the Republics. Further cooperation implies the assistance of both sides in the development of effective ties in the field of culture, trade, science, and other spheres.
Andrei Kozenko congratulated the Donetsk residents on the holiday and noted that for a million Russian citizens, Donetsk was not just a city, but an outpost for the protection of the Russian world. "The agreement on twinning is beneficial for both Donetsk and the Crimea. This means friendly support we are always ready to provide each other," he said.
Alexander Zakharchenko also began his speech with congratulating fellow countrymen on City Day and Miner's Day.
"Today, Donetsk has been awarded the title of Hero City! The inhabitants of Donetsk have deserved this title. But, I believe that every city has a soul. That of Donetsk is a true, whole one. And our people are of this particular character. Today, our capitals have established twinning relations, but, in fact, we have always been together. This step will contribute to the prospect for the entire world to get to know that we are inseparable. Only in this way we will be able to withstand all the threats and keep developing," Alexander Zakharchenko said.
Following the Agreement’s signing, a round table "Prospects for the Development of the Economy of the Donetsk People's Republic" was held. Heads of various ministries and enterprises of the Donetsk People's Republic told about the opportunities for cooperation between the states in their spheres.
